FAQ

Real questions, real answers.

No padding. If you can't find your question here, the answer is probably in the DIY planner or the host finder.

How long should a kids' bubble party actually last?

60 to 90 minutes for the bubble portion, plus cake and goodbyes. Under 60 minutes feels rushed; over 90 minutes most kids burn out. The classic three-act shape is 30 min bubbles, 30 min cake/snacks, 30 min more bubbles — works at every age.

What's the youngest age that works?

About 18 months. Below that, kids enjoy bubbles but get overwhelmed by quantity — stick to one machine on low setting and one wand. Above 18 months they actively chase and pop. The sweet spot is 3–7.

How much does it cost to hire a professional?

UK: £180–£300 budget, £300–£450 mid, £450+ premium for a 1-hour show. US: $150–$300 budget, $300–$750 mid, $750+ premium. Foam parties start higher — £210/£325 budget. Full breakdown in the types guide.

How much for a DIY party?

£60–£100 / $75–$110 covers a great DIY kit for 8–15 kids. Two machines, solution, wands, a few favours. See the starter-kit budgets.

Can you do a bubble party indoors?

Yes, but it needs proper floor protection — absorbent mats, not tarpaulin. Designate one bubble zone and keep the rest dry. Ventilation matters. Most pros prefer outdoor; insist on indoor if winter or weather demands.

Will the bubble solution damage my lawn?

Not seriously. You may see slight yellowing in patches — recovers within a week or two. Give the area a quick rinse with the hose after the party to dilute the soap.

What if it's windy?

Bubbles pop fast in anything over a light breeze. Find a sheltered corner (a fence, hedge, or gazebo helps). Morning is usually calmer than afternoon. If wind is severe, pivot to a small indoor setup — most pros can adjust.

How many bubble machines do I need?

Two. One machine creates a column of bubbles; two machines placed at opposite ends of the play area create a moving sky. The jump from 1 to 2 is bigger than the jump from 2 to 3.

What's the difference between bubbles and foam?

Bubble parties = many distinct bubbles you chase, pop, and step inside. Foam parties = a mountain of thick non-toxic foam kids jump into. Different vibes, different ages, different mess. Full comparison.

Can my kid stand inside a giant bubble?

Yes — almost every pro bubble show includes this as the finale. As a DIY activity you'll need a walk-in bubble kit (~$50–$150). Requires a calm day; wind will pop it before they're inside.

Is bubble solution safe if a child drinks some?

Small amounts cause mild stomach upset. Rinse the mouth, give water or milk, monitor. Call Poison Control if symptoms develop — UK 111, US 1-800-222-1222. See the safety guide for details.

How long ahead should I book a pro?

6–12 weeks for popular weekend slots. 2–3 weeks for weekday or off-peak. Less than 2 weeks, your choice narrows fast.

What questions should I ask a host before paying?

11 of them. Including: DBS/background check, public liability insurance, written contract, what's actually included, who is performing. Full list.

Do bubble machines work on rechargeable batteries?

Most decent ones do — and you want this. Battery-only (single-use) machines die mid-party. Buy machines that take rechargeables OR plug into mains.

What's the best DIY bubble solution recipe?

6 cups warm water + 1 cup clear corn syrup + 2 cups dish soap (Dawn / Fairy). Mix gently. Rest 24 hours before use. Skipping the rest is the most common DIY mistake. Full recipe + why it works.

What activities work best with bubbles?

Free-play chasing, bubble pop tag, biggest-bubble challenge, freeze dance with bubbles, bubble art (food colouring + solution + paper). Match the energy to the age. The 90-minute schedule has these built in.

Do you run a host directory? Can I list my business?

No — we're an honest guide, not a marketplace. We don't pretend to verify entertainers we haven't met. If you're an entertainer looking for bookings, list on Add to Event (UK), Poptop, GigSalad, or The Bash. If you want to suggest content for the site, the about page has a contact.

How do you make money?

Two ways: Amazon affiliate links on the gear page (a small commission if you buy through us, no cost to you), and a couple of ad slots on heavier-trafficked pages. We don't accept paid placements or sponsored content. More on funding.
